We are taking people from all different walks of life – whether they are undergraduates, postgraduates, ages, vast experiences, backgrounds and studies. We are looking for people who are fun-loving, adaptable, enthusiastic, those who have great senses of humor, those who love a challenge, love to travel, the experience-junkies, the seriously-passionate people, the culture lovers and team players! If that is you then we want to hear from you..
Each project hosts between 10-12 participants, we may however take up to 15, but we will not take any more than these numbers as we feel it compromises the quality of the program. Many gap programs 'on the market' take lot of people which create a bigger profit margin but in doing so loses that personal touch. Our focus is on creating an unforgettable experience and not building big numbers.
The project range is 18-30 years old. We like a good mix of ages, experience and backgrounds among participants. The group sizes are no bigger than 12 up to 15 to keep the group more personal and close-knit.
From past experience we found that projects run at 8 weeks often felt too long for participants and those at 3 weeks felt much too short. We decided a happy medium of 4.5 weeks was the perfect amount to really get a grasp of the city, to make the most of it and to solidify the skills that are taught and extended on during the project.
An overview of the projects is available on our 'PROJECTS' page of this website, from there you can click on each city on offer. However very specific information (including cost) regarding the 2019 projects is located on the 'APPLY' page where the Information Packs are able to be viewed on downloadable PDFs. The 2020 information packs will be released November 2019.
All meeting points and working spaces are located in the city centres unless otherwise specified. If there are changes to this project members will be notified ahead of time. Exact locations in each city will be provided in the document sent out 4 weeks before commencement.
For our projects we have decided to offer the 'stay your way' option - as travelers we know people from all over: maybe you want to stay with a friend? Or perhaps you're a hotel person, or an Airbnb person, an apartment person and maybe you're a hostel person. Some projects we have been able to snap up some incredible deals from accommodation providers and these will be outlined in the Information Packs.
Projects vary in cost depending on location, this is largely because of the rental prices of our work-spaces for our sessions. Please check out the 'Projects' page for information about what our projects each include. Exact costings and information is set out in our information packs by email request
Doing one our our projects can lead to future careers in creative fields like writing, photography, design etc. However, doing this kind of project may lead into careers such as becoming historians, tour guides or even work in marketing. The world is your oyster!
This is often a difficult question to answer as everyone travels and lives differently. This can be as much or as little as you like – this project can be done at the price of a ‘shoe-string’ if you want to. Average prices for meals, transport information and attraction costs are detailed in our information packs for each city. We also have ‘Travel Reviewer’ cards made up for project members which often see them get discounted/free entries into most places.
You will not be paid to do this project by WCR, our opportunities are not considered a form of employment rather than a travel and study experience where you learn and practice skills whilst working in a team towards a common goal.
Project members coming from Australia, United States of America or Canada only require a holiday visa. Anyone within the European Union require no visa. At this current stage the United Kingdom is formally still part of the EU, therefore require no visa. If you come from a different country it is advised that you contact your local embassy to see what is required for you to gain a visa. Please remember that as this is not a form of employment the only visa necessary (if required) is a tourist visa for up to 90 days.
Wanderlust City Review is a company registered with the Australian Government as the office is based within Victoria. However, the running of the projects take place in Europe. To view our business registration certificate please scroll to the bottom of this page.
We can now confirm that the 2020 cities on offer are Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Berlin and Madrid. Dates will be released November 1st 2019.
